Amalgam Definitive Version
A complete rework of Amalgam's platform.
This was one of my proudest accomplishments at Amalgam. Our goal was to simplify the app by removing all the nonessential and focus on delivering its core functionality. Additionally, we placed a high priority on ensuring accessibility and ease of use.
A bulk of my contributions to the project involved streamlining the onboarding process. We originally had a bare-bones experience when it came to a user creating an account. Imagine having to fill out 9 different forms, all lumped together onto a single page, just to create an account. How can we simplify the signup process? How do we redesign the user creation flow? Understanding this flow also meant having to deal with the endless edge cases for the required fields. One of the key parts to handling that was utilizing react-hook-form to configure custom requirements for the fields.
Another problem was developing a user-friendly method for users to create, select, and connect to their integrations with the app. Although we incorporated a product tour to guide users through this process, its effectiveness was contingent on the UI/UX being already intuitive. To improve user interaction, I had to revamp the button and dropdown. The previous version had a poorly placed button that would display integration categories in a drop-down menu. This caused confusion for users who were unsure which category their integration belonged to. To address this, I came up with a solution to have the button open up a modal that displays all integrations provided with their respective company logos. Additionally, I added a search filter to help users easily find their desired integration.
